Each summer, Appel Farm creates a warm, vibrant community with exceptional programs in the arts for young people ages 9 to 17. Appel Farm brings together people of diverse backgrounds, countries, religions, races, languages and cultures. Children have an opportunity to explore music, theater, dance, visual art, photography, video, recording art, creative writing, sports and swim under the guidance of professional artists and arts educators. The purpose of the Appel Farm Scholarship & Tuition Assistance Program is to create a diverse camp population by providing financial support to young people who would not otherwise have the resources to participate.
Recommendations for awards are made by a committee that consists of the Camp Director, the Assistant Camp Directors and members of the Board of Trustees. The committee bases its recommendations on the qualifications and criteria listed below. Based on committee recommendations, budgetary issues, and any other considerations relevant to the effectiveness and quality of the camp program, the Board of Trustees gives final approval of scholarship and tuition assistance awards.
Students must: 1) demonstrate financial need based on the scholarship or tuition assistance application and most recent IRS tax return, 2) be accepted for attendance at Appel Farm. Not all eligible applicants will receive an award as funds are limited. Campers will be accepted without regard to race, creed, color, national origin, nationality, ancestry, sex, sexual orientation, atypical cellular or blood trait, or mental or physical disability subject only to conditions and limitations applicable alike to all persons.
Scholarships are based on: 1) financial need, 2) potential for growth and development through the Appel Farm experience, 3) interest and involvement in one or more of the arts offered as part of the Appel Farm program, 4) background and experience which will broaden the cultural diversity of Appel Farm, 5) space availability.
* Please Note: Awards will be offered for our First or Second 4-week session only.
Applicants must submit a completed Scholarship & Tuition Assistance application, including the Instructor’s Statement on page 4, and a copy of the most recent IRS return. Incomplete applications will not be reviewed.

For the best opportunity for an award, return your application as early as possible! Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis starting in November; applications received early in the process are more likely to be awarded.
