Arts Classes at Appel Farm

News! Appel Farm Community Arts Outreach Project Featured in Geraldine R. Dodge 2004-2005 Biennial Report.

Come join us for some serious fun! If you can see it, make it! If you feel it, do it! Dance, act, draw, paint, sculpt, make a vase, take a photograph! As Appel Farm's newest arts program grows, classes and workshops are being added each Spring and Fall for both children and adults. Weekdays, afterschool, evenings and weekends – anytime is the right time to explore your creative side!

That's the spirit you will find at Appel Farm! With over 45 years of experience in introducing children to the arts, Appel Farm Arts & Music Center has a reputation for finding wonderful ways to make participating in the arts an exciting reality for South Jersey residents. Founded with a belief that artistic talent is within us all, Appel Farm provides a welcoming setting and skilled instructors to help you discover those talents. Study the techniques and materials of a variety of art forms, watch professional artists share their knowledge and experience - and create! With painting, sculpture, ceramics and dance studios, a gallery, classrooms, a theater, practice rooms, ceramics kilns for firing pottery and many other specialized facilities, artists of any age can begin an active relationship with the arts.

Each season, September through May, classes and workshops are offered and include classes for skill levels from beginning to advanced. Family and Youth Workshops introduce the history and art forms of different cultures and allow everyone to gain a hands-on familiarity with the art forms of countries around the world. Japanese brush drawing, creating Mexican retablos and discovering the arts of China are only a few of the workshops that have been offered. Workshops also give in-depth sessions with artists and give participants the ability to work in a special medium for a day. Papermaking, wire sculpture, origami, paper marbling, mosaics, clowning and mime, and dance are just a few of the adventures waiting for you.

Classes spanning several weeks, and shorter mini-sessions, allow one to focus on a favorite art form, whether it is ceramics, acting, painting, sculpture and yoga. Limited class sizes allow individualized attention, and you or your child are encouraged to work at your own pace. Children are introduced to the basics of visual art in Art Starts, Art Explorers and Art Innovators classes for youth of different ages. Each class is rarely the same twice, so repeating a class is more than accepted, it is encouraged. Register on-line (or download a hardcopy, Acrobat Reader is required) for one of next session's offerings now, and return to the Classes site often to see what else is new for you to enjoy! Please send your completed registration form with payment to Arts Classes at Appel Farm, PO Box 888, Elmer, NJ 08318, or fax to (856) 358-6513. Please contact the Director of Arts Education at (877) 394-6274 if you have any questions.
