- Camp Bunk Life Director (Live-On required)
The Camp Bunk Life Director works in close collaboration with the Camp Program Director and Director of Camper & Family Engagement to ensure a safe, supportive, and inclusive residential experience for all campers and staff. This position provides leadership and oversight within the bunk community, ensuring strong communication, high-quality staff supervision, and effective family engagement. - Camp Curriculum Director
The Camp Curriculum Director works in close collaboration with the Camp Program Director and Director of Camper & Family Engagement to ensure a high-quality, engaging, and inclusive program experience across all class and workshop areas. This position provides leadership and oversight for all curriculum planning and implementation, supervises Department Heads, and ensures instructional consistency and success throughout the summer. - Camp Activities Director
The Camp Activities Director works in close collaboration with the Camp Program Director and the Camp Operations Director to design and implement a dynamic, engaging, and community-centered schedule of workshops, activities, trips, and special events. This position oversees all non-class programming, ensuring that campers experience a joyful, balanced, and inclusive variety of choices that support connection, creativity, skill development, and fun. The Camp Activities Director leads planning for off-camp trips, Free Choice activities, Evening Activities, workshops, and camp-wide events, and coordinates signature culture-building programs such as Appel Farm For Life, Bunk Fairy, and Bunk Bucks. They will supervise the Sports & Games staff and ensure that sports minors are well-coordinated and supported Monday through Saturday. - Camp Operations Director
Reporting to the Camp Program Director, the Camp Operations Director oversees and coordinates all operational systems, logistics, and behind-the-scenes support necessary for the safe and successful functioning of camp. This position works in close collaboration with the Camp Program Director, Camp Curriculum Director, and Director of Camper & Family Engagement to ensure smooth daily operations and effective communication across all departments. The Camp Operations Director manages supervision schedules, staff coverage, camp travel logistics, the Health Center, laundry and housekeeping operations, overnight supervision, and operational support staff. They will manage budgets, schedules, supply systems, and operational planning processes to ensure all aspects of camp run efficiently and safely. The Camp Operations Director is also responsible for tracking and reporting accurate camper and staff numbers, along with comprehensive allergy and dietary restriction data, to the Head Chef to ensure safe meal planning and dining operations. - Bunk Head (Live-On required)
Reporting to the Camp Bunk Life Director, Bunk Heads create and maintain a safe, inclusive, supportive, and fun bunk community for their assigned age group. Bunk Heads train and supervise a team of Bunk Counselors, manage the overall residential experience, and ensure that campers feel seen, supported, and connected throughout their time at camp. They work closely with caregivers, the Office team, and the Health & Wellness staff to support camper needs, manage accommodations, address interpersonal and behavioral concerns, and promote positive community life. Bunk Heads support camp supervision, activities, and Out-of-Class time including Rest Hour, Bunk Clean Up, Free Choice, and Evening activities. - Bunk Wellness Specialist (Live-On required)
Reporting to the Bunk Head, the Bunk Wellness Specialist supports the emotional, social, and behavioral well-being of campers within their assigned age group. They provide guidance, counseling support, and crisis response for campers experiencing homesickness, emotional challenges, interpersonal conflict, or other stress-related needs. The Bunk Wellness Specialist collaborates with Bunk Heads, Bunk Counselors, and Health & Wellness staff to develop and implement behavior and accommodation plans and provide individualized support and training to staff. They will coordinate and manage telehealth appointments and scheduling, communicate with caregivers as needed, and operate as the Bunk Head on Days Off. - In-Bunk Staff (Live-On required)
Reporting to the Bunk Head, and in their absence the Bunk Wellness Specialist, Bunk Counselors live with and care for a group of 8–12 campers in partnership with another Bunk Counselor. Bunk Counselors are responsible for building a safe, inclusive, supportive, and fun bunk community while supervising campers throughout daily routines, activities, and Out-of-Class time. When campers are in class, Bunk Counselors serve as Teaching Assistants for 2 of the 4 class periods each day or support Administrative or Operations duties as assigned. Bunk Counselors are role models who prioritize camper well-being, emotional support, and positive relationship-building while supporting conflict resolution, bunk culture, and restorative practices. - Little Appels Counselor
Reporting to the Camp Bunk Life Director and the Camp Program Director, the Little Appels Counselor is responsible for caring for the children of staff who are not old enough to be campers (ages 0–7). This role functions as a camp nanny, providing developmentally appropriate activities, supervision, and physical care tailored to the needs of young children. Little Appels Counselors will plan and implement engaging learning and play experiences, manage daily routines including meals, naps, hygiene, and toileting or diapering needs, and ensure a safe, nurturing, and supportive environment for children of mixed ages. - Department Head
Department Heads are instructional leaders responsible for creating and maintaining a safe, inclusive, and engaging classroom environment within their program area. Department Heads lead curriculum planning, instructional quality, classroom management support, scheduling, and staff training within their specialty. They support skill development in both campers and staff, promote creativity and collaboration, and ensure curriculum goals and program standards are met. - Teaching Staff
Reporting to their Department Heads, Teaching Staff support instruction and classroom learning by working collaboratively with co-instructors to develop and deliver curriculum for 2–3 periods per class day. Reporting to the Camp Operations Director, Laundry/Housekeeping Assistants support the daily functioning, cleanliness, and maintenance of camp facilities. They assist with camper and staff laundry services, maintain clean and organized communal spaces, and ensure that necessary supplies such as cleaning products, paper goods, and hygiene materials are fully stocked. Laundry/Housekeeping Assistants play an essential role in camp health and safety, helping maintain a welcoming and well-organized environment across living, activity, and community spaces. - Overnight Supervision
Reporting to the Camp Operations Director, the Overnight Supervision Staff member is responsible for ensuring the safety and well-being of campers and staff during the overnight hours while working a third-shift schedule of 11:00 PM – 7:00 AM daily. This role conducts regular safety rounds throughout camp facilities and grounds, monitors security cameras when not on patrol, identifies and responds to potential hazards or emergencies, and communicates promptly with leadership to maintain a safe and secure environment. The position requires comfort working in a rural environment, frequently outdoors and in all weather conditions, including rain, heat, and night hours with limited visibility. Mandatory participation in Emergency Response Team trainings, drills, and preparedness protocols is required. Overnight Supervision Staff will be responsible for maintaining a thorough and well-documented written log for every shift, recording rounds, observations, incidents, and security camera notes. - Photo or Video Documentarian
Reporting to the Camp Program Director and the Director of Camper & Family Engagement for all photo, video, and documentation needs, and reporting to the Camp Operations Director for Support Team duties, the Photo/Video Documentarian is responsible for capturing the daily life, creative work, and community experiences of campers and staff through photography and/or videography. This role includes visiting classes, performances, events, and activities to document camper engagement, uploading daily photo galleries for families, and managing livestreams or recordings of shows and showcases. The Photo/Video Documentarian may use personal DSLR/camera equipment or camp-provided equipment. As a member of the Support Team, this position also includes assigned supervision shifts, coverage responsibilities, and other tasks as needs arise. The role may involve coordination with a Photo Doc Cover, who provides support during scheduled time off or emergencies. - Health & Wellness Coordinator
Reporting to the Camp Program Director and the Camp Operations Director, the Health & Wellness Coordinator provides supervision, training, consistency, and ongoing support for the seasonal Health & Wellness team, including RNs, LPNs, FNPs, EMTs, physicians, and mental health counselors. The Health & Wellness Coordinator works closely with the Camp Directors and the Executive Director to maintain accurate records, communicate with families and caregivers, and implement best practices in youth health care, medication management, emergency response, and wellness support. This role ensures compassionate and developmentally appropriate care for campers and staff while coordinating schedules, staffing transitions, and communication systems. The position may live on or off-site, with a schedule determined by staff training dates and healthcare team changeovers. Some On Call Overnight responsibilities are required. - Licensed Healthcare Staff
Reporting to the Health & Wellness Coordinator, Licensed Healthcare Staff provide on-site medical care for campers and staff and support the daily operations of the Health Center. Licensed Healthcare Staff include New Jersey or Compact RNs, LPNs, FNPs, EMTs, physicians, athletic trainers, or other licensed healthcare providers. This role includes managing and dispensing daily medications, providing basic first aid and treatment for common injuries and illnesses, maintaining medical records, and triaging major injuries or urgent concerns for off-site medical evaluation. Licensed Healthcare Staff live on-site and participate in a rotating On-Call Overnight schedule. Contracts are generally two weeks in length and require collaboration with other medical and camp leadership staff to ensure safe and compassionate care. - Substitute/Coverage Licensed Healthcare Staff
Substitute / Coverage Licensed Healthcare Staff provide medical coverage on a Scheduled On Call or As Needed basis and report to the Health & Wellness Coordinator. Substitute staff may rotate into the Health Center to supplement full-time medical team coverage during time off, illness, staffing transitions, emergency needs, or high-volume periods. Coverage staff include New Jersey or Compact RNs, LPNs, FNPs, EMTs, physicians, athletic trainers, or other licensed healthcare providers. Responsibilities include providing basic on-site healthcare to campers and staff, managing and dispensing medications, documenting treatments, and triaging more serious conditions for off-site care.
